Batman Arkham City

Batman Arkham City got a 10 rating in Game Informer Magazine.  Rocksteady added many new features and gadgets.  The new abilities include using the grapple while running or flying, the dive while flying to get speed, to go immediately into flying after grappling, drop attack, and aerial attack.  Of the new features I think the ability to use the grapple while flying is the most useful.  Especially now that the map is large compared to Arkham Asylum.  The new gadgets are the remote electrical charge, freeze blast, ultra batclaw, disruptor, and mine detonator. My two favorite gadgets are the disruptor and the remote electrical charge.  The disruptor is a good gadget to use when doing predator challenges because it disables the weapon of the enemy you use it on.  The remote electrical charge shoots an electrical charge that works great on enemies with heavy armor and activates some machinery.  The combat system in this game is the best compared to any fighting game in my opinion.

Bioshock

Bioshock is a twisted and dark game. The game starts out with you on a plane that crashes into the middle of the ocean next to a building which you enter.  Inside there is a bathysphere which takes you under water and shows you a short film about the place it is taking you to.  An under water city that is supposed to be a utopia called Rapture.  In the city people were offered plasmids that genetically alter you so you can have special abilities like having fire a your fingers and telekinesis.  The problem was that people went insane and started killing each other and destroying the city.  The game is demented and you will notice this many times throughout the game.  Once you get some plasmids you can go to the plasmid store to purchase new abilities and perks using ADAM.  Adam is harvested from a Little Sister which is protected by Big daddy.  You have to kill the Big Daddy if you want to get the ADAM from the Little Sister.  You can either kill the little girl for more ADAM or save her and get less.  There are also many weapon upgrade stations around the game to make you guns more power full, accurate, and etc.  Hacking is a helpful tool to have cameras and turrets attack enemies.  Comes in handy when fighting a Big Daddy.

The Orange Box

The same producers as Left 4 Dead, Valve spent many years making The Orange Box.  This game has five games in it.  Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode 1, Half Life 2: Episode 2, Portal, and Team Fortress Two.  The Half Life 2 games are the main campaign.  Portal is a unique and very challenging puzzle game.  The object of the game is to get from one end of the testing facility to the other using a portal gun.  The gun makes two different colored portals and when entering one you go out the other.  Team Fortress two is the multiplayer game mode.  There are two different types of games, capture the bag, and control the point.  In multiplayer there are 9 differant classes to play as.  Soldier, Scout, Pyro, Heavy Weapons, Engineer, Demoman, Medic, Sniper, Spy.

Dead Space

Dead Space is a 3rd person sci-fi horror game.  The game is set on a mining ship orbiting a distant planet and your character is on a service repair team sent because the ship hasn't been replying to any transmissions.  All seams well for a few minutes on the ship and then chaos.  Genetically altered humans come through the ceiling and attack you team.  The hallways are dark and there a scary noises.  As you walk through the halls there can be surprise attacks on you at any moment.  There some gadgets you get to help you get through the game such as the ability of kinesis to move and catch objects, and the stasis ability that slows fast moving enemies and machinery.  There are 7 different guns in the game which all have a primary and secondary function.  On the adventure through the ship there are power nodes to find that can be used at a workbench to make your weapons more powerful, reload faster, have more ammo, and speed.  Also, there are shops throughout the game to purchase power nodes, weapon, ammo, and medical supplies, or to sell inventory items.

Fallout 3

Fallout 3 is an RPG (Role Playing Game).  at the beginning of this game you start out in an underground society called a vault.  This is place where people live to escape the hardships of the outside world that is a nuclear wasteland.  Once you leave the vault, the game is a free roam map.  There are tons of small towns and villages, but there also large cities.  Inside the cities there are people to talk to and acquire quest.  There are also shop to go to to get weapons and supplies to help you survive the wasteland.  In thee wasteland there are cults, raiders, mercenaries, Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave, and many different types of genetically altered creatures.  The Brotherhood of Steel is an organized army to fight the Enclave.  Sometimes on the "wastes" as people in the game call it, you can stumble upon little Enclave outposts stockpiled with weapons, ammo, and medical supplies.
An awesome feature for combat is the VATS (Vault Assisted Targeting System).  It displays the enemy and the chance of hitting those limbs.  Using the mouse or controller to scroll over
the limbs and selecting which parts to shoot at until you
run out of AP or Action Points.  This is a great tool to use when trying to get head shots and disarm enemies.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Modern Warfare 3 is just another great game.  It has Campaign, Multiplayer, and Spec Ops.  It is just like every other Call of Duty game.  The gameplay style is similar to other CoD game produced by Infinity Ward.  The gamplay is a run and gun because people mostly just run around until they see a person to shoot and start running again.  Not many players use the running ability to just get between cover.  People play as an individual, rather than a unit or a team.  It is fun game for people who just like to go for kills instead of playing the objective.  I feel that the reason behind this is because people care more about their rank in the overall leaderboards more than just playing the game.  No matter what game mode it is.  A great addition to this game was prestige tokens.  Every time you prestige you will receive one token to use on double EXP, double EXP on weapons.  Infinity Ward also added a new way of kill streaks.  Instead of just having a list of kill streaks they made two separate lists.  One is assault and the other is support.  Assault kill streaks will be offensive against the enemy while support will only help your team.  Also, the assault killstreaks have to earned between deaths before having to start back at zero kills.  The support kill streaks are supplementary after you die.

Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead is an intense first person shooter zombie game.  It is the simplest game I've ever played, but is also a really fun game.  Left 4 Dead is set in a major city and the object of the game is to get from one safe room to the next.  Although, there are only five primary weapons and a pistol, there are also pipe bombs and a Molotov cocktail.  The game play is fast and intense.  While playing there many different types of zombies.  The smoker which can grab you from long distances, the hunter who jumps on you, the boomer which spews his bile on you causing a horde of common zombies to swarm you and attack you.  There is also the tank and the witch who aren't encountered many time throughout the game.  This game is scary at some points and is also thrilling.  Many times zombies will spring at you out of nowhere and startle you.  My only problem with this game is the multiplayer.  If you don't have any friends who play this game the multiplayer is not as fun.  When playing online with random people on your team, the team will suffer.  On multiplayer the the survivor team has to work together as a unit, but when playing with random people nobody will work together to get to the safe house.  Everybody runs as fast as they can to get to the safe house and each person is quickly picked off.  I would recommend Left 4 Dead to people that would have a few friends to play it with.
